ACTION: Inhibits esterification of fatty acids, prevents hepatic enzymes from catalyzing final step of triglyceride synthesis.
INDICATIONS: Adjunct to diet to reduce very high (500mg/dL or higher) serum triglyceride levels in adult pts.
OFF-LABEL: Treatment of IgA nephropathy.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Occasional: (5%–3%) Eructation, altered taste, dyspepsia.
Rare: (2%–1%) Rash, back pain.
ADVERSE EFFECTS/TOXIC REACTIONS: None known.
Cautions: Known sensitivity, allergy to fish.
INTERACTIONS:
DRUG: May increase bleeding time with anticoagulants.
HERBAL: None significant.
LAB VALUES: May increase serum ALT, LDL.

INDICATIONS: Blocked blood vessels by invisible phlegm, Blocked Luo collaterals, Depleted Jin Ye causing joint pain. Dryness conditions, Marrow deficiency.

Pulse: thin, thready, choppy
RATIONALE: Its salty properties nourish Jin Ye so dissolving congealed Phlegm in the blood vessels and opens collaterals, Its moist property nourishes marrow. Its greasy and cloying properties may cause diarrhea with preexisting damp accumulation and Sp Qi deficiency.
