Galina V. Roofener A.P., L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)®, Dipl. C.H. (NCCAOM)®
Galina V. Roofener holds board-certified credentials in the states of Florida and Ohio as a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. Galina received her Oriental Medicine degree from East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, FL, a Doctor of Naturopathy degree from Trinity College of Natural Health in Warsaw, IL, and a Nursing degree from Medical College #3 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Galina has also pursued studies towards a Bachelor of Arts in Education in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Furthermore, she has continued to earn multiple certifications in various modalities of Integrative and Complementary Medicine and holds special certification in acupuncture point injections.
Galina has over 30 years of experience in health care, including 8 years at the Cleveland Clinic as an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. She was a major contributor to the development of the Chinese Herbal Therapy program. As a result, Cleveland Clinic garnered global attention as being one of the first major medical institutions to open a hospital-based herbal clinic in the United States. In so doing, this provided even broader access to supplementary options for patients seeking an integrative approach to their care. She also has 10 years of experience in a hospital physical rehabilitation department in Lithuania where her duties included acupuncture and kinesiotherapy with a focus on medical Qigong, medical massage, and balneotherapy. Galina has a special interest in integrative, preventative, and rehabilitation medicine.
One of Galina’s great passions is teaching. Presently, she is a contributor to published journals and textbooks on the topics of prevention, wellness, health, and Eastern medicine, and is also an NCCAOM-approved continuing education provider and gives lectures at many conferences. In the past, she served as an Instructor of Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology at different schools in the U.S. In 2006, she was awarded Top Performing Educator of Aveda Institutes. She has also been part of the teaching faculty and staff at Klaipeda University in Lithuania.
Galina has authored a textbook, which illustrates a modern perspective on describing the TCM pulse through the interpretation of mobile ECG data, entitled Modern Pulse Diagnosis: Mobile ECG Based.
Currently, Galina is serving on the herbal committee at the American Acupuncture Association. Before moving back to Florida to be closer to her family she served on the State Medical Board of Ohio’s Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Advisory Panel concerning the subject of Chinese herbs and other modalities of Oriental Medicine. Also, in the past, she served on the Hospital-Based Practice Task Force Committee advisory panel for the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
